Simpleway has joined PAVS.CA as a Partner. The society passed its first year this month. Its founding chair, Greg Rushton, has described the Canadian AV industry as thriving but short of a unified voice and a clear path for people to grow in it. That is the gap PAVS.CA set out to close. We wanted to support that effort, and getting to do it in the country where our international story began makes it all the better.
The Professional Audio Visual Society of Canada (PAVS.CA) launched in July 2025 as a national not-for-profit, founded by Greg Rushton, Mike Dilullo, and Brock McGinnis. It brings integrators, technicians, designers, educators, and manufacturers together under one national organization, with a mission to elevate audiovisual professionals in Canada through networking, education, mentorship, and advocacy. It runs bursary and scholarship programs, champions accredited education and recognized trade certifications, and promotes AV as a career to students and newcomers.
That last part is why we wanted in.
Every system we have delivered in Canada depended on local integrators, technicians, and consultants. They walked the site, designed the zones, pulled the cable, commissioned the racks, and stayed until the last speaker was verified. It is the same everywhere we work, whether the ceiling belongs to an airport terminal, a transit station, a hospital corridor, or a school hallway. Software gets the credit on a spec sheet. People make it work at five in the morning when a message has to go out and cannot wait. When the AV trade in Canada is stronger and better trained, our clients get better outcomes. So do the passengers, patients, and students on the other end of the speaker.
Our own history in Canada goes back to 2011, when Vancouver International Airport became our first international client, at a point when our track record ran to Prague Airport and not much further. Today the airport runs around 10,000 automated announcements a day through our platform, across 100 gates and in eight languages, and it has been named Best Airport in North America fifteen times.
Calgary, Kelowna, Nanaimo, and Windsor followed. Different sizes, different budgets, the same reason for calling.
Canada gave us our start outside Europe. Becoming a PAVS.CA Partner is a small way of giving something back to the industry that made it possible.
